Tori Spelling files suit after 'burning' slip-and-fall accident

Oklahoma residents may be interested in hearing about a celebrity premises liability case that occurred in a state on the West coast. Tori Spelling, best known for her role in Beverly Hills: 90210 as Donna, has recently filed a lawsuit against a hibachi chain restaurant known as Benihana. She is alleging that she slipped and fell while dining at the restaurant. The slip-and-fall accident led to her suffering a severe burn on her right arm from touching the grill.

According to the court papers, she suffered both second- and third-degree burns. She had to stay in the hospital for an undisclosed time. She also had to undergo surgery reportedly for skin grafts due to the burns being so severe. All of this led to significant medical and hospital expenses, loss of wages, loss of earning capacity and general damage.

Hibachi restaurants are known for their openness. However, the owner of the restaurant should have had barriers in place to prevent such an incident from happening. Owners of any business, including restaurants, are responsible for ensuring that their property is safe for invitees to be present on the property.

Serious burns like Ms. Spelling's can have long-term effects. For this reason, individuals here in Oklahoma who find themselves in a similar situation where they have been gravely injured due to the negligence of a property owner may want to consider what legal options are available to them. Filing a lawsuit following a slip-and-fall accident can help ease the financial and emotional burden that would be suffered by not holding the responsible party liable for the injuries caused.
