According to law enforcement officials, a driver left the scene of an accident after colliding with another vehicle on Oct. 31. The incident reportedly occurred around 5 p.m. on in Norman.
The accused man was reportedly driving an SUV northbound while another driver was traveling in the same direction in a pickup truck. Witnesses stated that the SUV smashed into the pickup, causing the pickup to leave the road. Following the collision, the SUV driver allegedly fled the scene.
Witnesses reportedly followed the man and called the police. The SUV driver was found by Cleveland County Sheriff's deputies and taken into custody on unrelated charges. He was apparently not hurt in the accident. The pickup truck driver, however, reportedly sustained significant injuries as a result of the collision. At the time of the report, the defendant remained in custody, and charges related to the accident may be filed against him. The collision forced the closure of the road for several hours while law enforcement conducted their investigation and cleanup.
People are sometimes seriously injured in motor vehicle accidents as a result of the negligence of a distracted driver. A distracted driver may fail to appropriately check for traffic when changing lanes or turning, and a collision may result. People who suffer serious injury in these types of accidents may be able to recover compensation for all losses they have incurred by filing a personal injury lawsuit. An attorney can help victims recover damages from the liable driver for both economic and non-economic losses.
